Coaching and Facilitation

Coaching Leaders

I believe you can lead at any level in an organisation

Coach and Facilitator Joanne Appleton working online, speaking to her laptop and taking notes.

“Joanne is an amazing coach. Using a number of honed techniques she expertly helped me overcome my own, self imposed boundaries. Her encouraging approach has enabled me to continue to utilise these techniques a year own and have enabled my confidence and career to flourish.”
Cheryl, Senior Manager

Through coaching, you will:

  • Understand more about what is important to you

  • Overcome the self-limiting beliefs that stop you from reaching your full potential

  • Set boundaries and create strategies to balance work with the rest of your life

  • Work though ‘tricky issues’ and make brave decisions in your career

As your coach, my role is to ask questions, but even more importantly to listen. I give you the space and time to discover the answers that are most meaningful to you. You will be encouraged to look at issues in new ways, gaining useful (and even surprising) insights. This will help you to create positive solutions to situations you are facing and the relationships you care about.

Coaching Teams

teams work best when they understand themselves, each other and their purpose

Through my interactive, focused and practical approach, teams can:

  • Develop their vision and values and see how this fits within the wider organisation

  • Improve their listening and communication skills within the team, learning from each other’s perspectives

  • Analyse processes and come up with practical improvements that are owned by the whole team

  • Work together towards their goals and develop a shared sense of momentum and purpose

I prefer to work in-person, and offer either one-off team development sessions, or workshops over a number of weeks or months. As we work together we will capture the learning and create an action plan which will enable the team to maintain their progress in the future.

"Joanne was wise, to the point, attentive and valued each individual equally. Her non-judgmental approach helped us to hear one another and see what was really going on.” Jonathan, Retreat Centre leader, Spain

“Joanne is a great listener. She is brilliant at letting you come to conclusions under her guidance rather than giving answers. She created a safe space where no suggestion or comment was too daft.” Bethany, deputy practice manager

Thinking Aloud

Sometimes you are faced with an issue where you just can’t find a solution on your own

My 1-4 hour interactive ‘thinking aloud’ sessions combine coaching with a variety of tools and techniques to help you to find answers that are right for you. Potential areas where I can help are:

  • Working through a business idea when you aren’t sure where to start

  • Understanding where you feel ‘stuck’ and ways to move forward

  • Project planning and development

  • Exploring career changes or wanting to make the most of a time of transition

These bespoke sessions are tailored to your needs and can be online or in person. Together we will come up with a plan for progress with practical steps and realistic goals.

"I would strongly recommend Joanne in her role as facilitator and coach. Her previous experience was invaluable in helping to develop a long term business plan and to identify and engage stakeholders when I took on a programme director role." Cathy, Programme Director, GP retention programme
